Formed by Scott Hanley and Bobby O'Brien in 1979 after the breakup of Sacred Heart featured Paul Santello (lead vocals), Scott Hanley (guitars, vocals), Steve Varteresian (guitars, vocals), Paul Hughes (bass), Bobby O'Brien (drums, vocals). Mostly original band showcasing songs from Scott Hanley, Steve Varteresian and Bobby O'Brien as well as an eclectic selection of cover songs. Developed a strong following in the Framingham area. Recorded a six song demo. Scott Hanley left to join the band August and was replaced by guitarist Barnett Childress. The new version of Racer recorded a 45 and continued to play to packed houses in the MetroWest area through the early 80's.
